Waking up with some energy, a little more than half of the time.
Googling ways to make the circles under your eyes look less aggressively dark. Rolling ice all over them.
Yearning for a long stroller walk, but it’s -1 degree and icy.
Seizing the chance for a little movement on a toy-free patch of carpet.
Eating Oreos at 2 a.m. after nursing a sleepy babe,
Hoping the crinkle of the packaging doesn’t undo that sleepy magic you’ve supplied.
Feeling the creative juices flow…sometimes, but also feeling ready for a nap…mostly.
15 weeks postpartum and
The baby is getting heavy
Smiley
Goofy
She wears a mixture of sizes from newborn to 9-months,
But then again so do you; nothing in your closet fits right.
Everything is in between.
And
This house is closing in on you,
The walls need repainting,
The floorboards are slanting.
Why do [the floorboards] creak so freaking much?!?
“We should book a trip to Mexico!”
“We’re never leaving the house again.”
“Maybe we can go on a date night soon?”
“I’m so smelly!”
“Could I hop in the shower, quick?”
“She’s the sweetest baby that’s ever lived.“
“She really is.”
15 weeks postpartum is a series of dualities and extremes. But it feels so much fresher and healthier than 12 weeks, than 10 weeks, than 1 week postpartum. And it’s filled with sounds and feelings and moments you could have only dreamt of pre-baby.
Be grateful for 15 weeks postpartum.
It’s filled to the brim, really.
But then again, when something’s so full, like that, it can overflow. And that’s how 15-weeks postpartum feels. So full, it’s overflowing.
